Breakthrough - Week 2
This month on Christian Book Club we are reading “Breakthrough” by Derek Morphew. As we enter Week 2 we will be reading; The Implications of the Kingdom, Bringing in the Kingdom, Acts of Intervention, The Parables of the Kingdom, Kingdom Lifestyle.
In the chapter on Kingdom Lifestyle there is an excellent discussion on the sermon on the mount. I look forward to your comments on that section as well as any other portion of the book you would like to talk about.
(Most of you know that I live in the Florida Keys. We were under the threat of Hurricane Ike all week and so this update is a couple of days late. Fortunately for us and yet unfortunately for Cuba (I planted churches in Cuba for ten years and I have a lot of friends on the Island) Hurricane Ike passed to the south of us and we are now getting tropical storm force winds. Sorry for the delay.)
In case you don’t have the book yet I will include a link here for you to get one. They have copies available at Amazon.

Mathew 5:3 Blessed are the Poor In Spirit
, for theres is the kingdom of heaven.
When Jesus was with us he walked in the end times. When he Blessed the poor in Spirit it was for the end times or when the Spirit of Our Father came through the veil of satins kingdom into the end times or now. Those who were considered Poor In Spirit were those who knew they needed God, money and things were not the point but the attitude of the heart, which is what God is looking at to build his Kingdom of Heaven.
Mathew 5:4 Blessed Are Those Who Mourn for they will be comforted
Being a sinner that new they went past some line and tried for a long time to stop the pain and always went back to the sin that lead to the action. Mourning was a way of life with struggle for a companion. Then I stepped into a twelve-step program and found much relieves but without true peace although not knowing it, until I stepped into the Vineyard and was lead to the Lord. I live on the water and at times it falls on me that Our Father has given us so much and yet too many travel a different path with a liar guiding them along the way, the lies still come to me, but I read Gods word to here and stay in the Truth and be comforted by the Holy Spirit from time to time, looking and hoping for always.
Mathew 5:5 Blessed Are The Meek For They Shall Inherit The Earth
The one thing God asked the Israelites was to trust in him, they could not do it. Waiting on God and believing that his desire for us is always better than our own plan and not struggle with the outcome is a Blessing of Meekness.
Mathew 5:6 Blessed Are Those Who Hunger And Thirst For Righteousness For They Will Be Filled.
Waking up in the mourning and saying good mourning Father, I love you. Hoping to walk in the shoes he has prepared for us, since before he created the Heavens and the Earth. Knowing we will sin but also knowing he will forgive us for our character defects that were instilled by the one who lies to us about the truth, and again that is why it is so important to be in Gods word daily, to know the truth, going toward righteousness
Mathew 5:7 Blessed Are The Merciful For They Will Be Shown Mercy.
There is a saying amoungst my closest friends , who are also in recovery, BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD THERE I GO. It’s a picture of me watching a drunk , drug addict, harlot, fill in the blank. Being grateful it’s not me and being willing to help, starting with asking for God to draw them closer to Him.
Mathew 5:8 Blessed Are The Pure In Heart For They Will See God.
In early sobriety I said something to these three guys that , to say the least, was unkind. They left the AA room and did not come back. I knew that what I did was wrong and it was not allowing me to forget. My sponsor told me I had to make an amends, I was about 90 day sober, so my amends was, after I got on my bicycle and rode around to find them, I am sorry. I went back to the AA club and decided that it would be best to just serve the coffee and not talk to anyone, so I did that for a day or so. And then the three of them walked in the door and as soon as I seen them ,I thought here come them^%$# but I didn’t say anything , a moment later this small quiet voice in my head said YOU CANT EVEN THINK IT! I remember thinking this is not good so I asked my sponsor if I needed to make an amends , he said no as long as you did not open your mouth your ok. It may have been my first spiritual awakening and I have practiced that for a while and certainly it was a Blessing and I still have a ways to go.
