The Numbers of Hope 3:16 - Week 2
We are going to be reading chapters 4 - 6 of The Numbers of Hope on Christian Book Club this week. I have been trying to write this article all day and have been dealing with a slow Internet connection. I was getting really frustrated so I had to just give it a break for a while. As I was waiting I was thinking about how silly it is to get frustrated over something like the speed of my Internet connection. Of course, it took me a little while to get there. I initially wanted to call my provider and complain to someone. “What is wrong with your Internet Service today?” “Don’t you realize how important what I have to do is?” “How could anything move so slowly?” Sometimes I am amazed at my own self-importance!
Keep reading the daily devotionals. I am really enjoying them. I like Chapter 6. I am glad that Jesus is a heart transplant specialist! I will comment more during the week! Look forward to reading your comments as well.

I just finished chapters four and five. I really liked the way he described agape love in chapter four, especially the example of the elderly man and his wife. It was so sweet, I teared up in my break room at work!

I am so very grateful that God will not let me go. I love Max telling us that I can’t win God’s love so therefore I can’t lose it either. That is very comforting.
It is such a shame that people do resist God’s love though. You wouldn’t think anyone in their right mind would resist being loved but satan blinds us. I’ve tried to love people that just don’t seem to want my love-it’s hard to continue. I am glad that God doesn’t give up on us. And the reference to Hosea warmed my heart-it is my favorite book in the Bible.
Have you ever thought about the privileges you have because of who you are or who you belong to? Just this past weekend I had an incident out of town and needed the police’s assistance. I am married to a Highway Patrolman and I have never used that to get anything. This time was different….I told the police who I was and asked if they could go out of their way to help me and they did…just because I belong to my husband. I know this is stretching the example alot but think about Jesus’ privileges because of who He is and belongs to. As Max points out (page 45) Jesus doesn’t claim the most authority but ALL authority. I often forget who I really belong to and I lose sight of all I have been given because I am Jesus’!
I love learning the Greek word for something in the Bible. On pages 59 and 60 my brain went “whoa”. Saying “in place of” or “on behalf of” in conjunction with the Scriptures given was very eye-opening. I often totally miss the fact that Jesus did so much for me on my behalf so I don’t have to do it.
