The Numbers of Hope 3:16 - Week 3

feature photo

Here on Christian Book Club we move in to week three of Max Lucado’s “The Numbers of Hope 3:16″. I hope you are enjoying not only the book but the daily devotionals as much as I am. Once again let me say that I am grateful for your comments as they really add to the reading experience. This week we will be reading chapters 7-9. When you start chapter 9 there is a reference to Team Hoyt. This is an amazing father and son relationship that Max uses to illustrate believing in and depending on God. I am including a video from You Tube that will introduce you to Team Hoyt. I think it is also a fitting tribute for Father’s Day (make sure your speakers are on, the background music is really good). Don’t forget to get your books ordered for next month’s club. It is a C.S. Lewis offering called the Weight of Glory. Enjoy the video and I look forward to your comments.

  1. I loved chapter nine and the story of the father and son running team - it is such an amazing story of love. I like how Max explains the different religions, and puts into context the fact that all roads do not lead to heaven. How can they, when they all have such contradicting views? As always, a great read.

  2. Well I sure have gotten behind. I finished the book before going on vacation but didn’t write my review. So here we go….

I love Whoever. I tend to forget that sometimes though. As the Casting Crowns song says “Jesus paid much to high a price for me to pick and choose who should come”. When people rub me wrong I forget this-to have a heart for people like Jesus is one of the hardest lessons I’ve being taught.

Trust is such a rare thing in the world these days. Think about how many people in your sphere that you REALLY trust. I can count on one hand the people I could lay my heart wide open to and know that they would not step all over it. What a great blessing to know God can be trusted.

    Team Hoyt ….just wow.
I love how Lucado explains that all approaches to God cannot be correct (pages 87-88). People really need to educate themselves about the beliefs in this world. I did a study on world religions and was very amazed at what people believe.
