Your God is Too Safe - Discussion 2

I have been enjoying your comments on Christian Book Club Online this week. I wanted to share some of the things that jumped out at me as I was reading this week and get your feedback. I was touched when I read the story of Paul Yonggi Cho on page 47. What a great picture of bitterness and forgiveness. I re-read it twice and was all goose pimply both times. I enjoyed the discussion on obedience on pages 48-50 as it related to Jonah. What did you think?

I agree with the idea that technology has been a blessing and a curse. What do you think? Losing our imagination causes us to lose the idea of the Christian life as an adventure. I also like the discussion on page 42 that revolved around the question “What is it you want Me to do for you? I would like to hear from you about these things and about your thoughts as well.

  1. “What do you want Him to do for you?” page 42

That question stopped me in my tracks. I still don’t have the answer….I’ll be working on that one for the rest of my life.

Paul Cho’s story shows me to be careful with my words. God knows my heart and He will break me and mold me. I have said that I wouldn’t go here or there and yet God has sent me around the world to spread His name. He might just send me “next door” to that one person I don’t want to talk to about Jesus. But as the Casting Crowns song “IF WE ARE THE BODY” states “Jesus paid much to high a price for us to pick and choose who should come”. He will not let us mess up His plan.

  2. I think it it is interesting that it is often easier to go around the world to tell someone about Jesus than it is to tell your next door neighbor.

I agree with you about the “What is it you want me to do for you question”. This is a question that can’t be answered quickly. Do we really know what we want Jesus to do for us?

    Thanks for your comments!
