Your God is Too Safe - Week 2
This week on Christian Book Club we will be reading chapters 7 - 12 of “Your God is Too Safe”. I have appreciated all your comments and I personally am enjoying the book very much. I find that there are ideas in each chapter that really make me stop and think. In this weeks chapters I already have a few favorites.
In chapter 7 Jacob wrestles with God and afterward he walks with a limp. Until we walk with a limp in our Christian walk, we really don’t rely on God.
In chapter 8 I love the statement, “Life isn’t fair…do the right thing”. This may be my new favorite saying.
In chapter 9 this was my favorite, “pride keeps showing up in disguise, bearing a saints name”.
I hope you are enjoying the book. I look forward to your comments.
P.S. Every now and then I need to write an article like the one I wrote called “How to Start a Christian Book Club“. In order to get this site to rank well in the search results there are some site maintenance things I have to do which includes the occasional article that is a little off topic from the regular discussion article. If you are getting the free email subscription those articles will show up as well. Sorry! Once the site moves up in the search results I won’t have to do it very often. The better the search results the more people we will have in the book club. Thanks for your patience. Blessings!

I enjoyed reading these next six chapters much more
than I did the first six. For some reason, I couldn’t get a real grasp of the concept of borderland (as evidenced by my lame comment in
week one.) But this week was a different story!
The pages came alive and were real to me, because
I related to the all the concepts here, especially
the “life isn’t fair” concept. I listened to Pastor
Donald Cole on the radio illustrate this point by
saying that there are Christians who starve to death. This got me thinking about Luke 12:22 how we are not to worry about what to eat. But then the apostle Paul shows us that we can be happy in extreme circumstances. It involves adopting the mind of Christ.
Also, I had to laugh at the description in Chapter 10 of how busy we are. It spanned one full page and two half pages, and how true it was. Described life to a tee on some days. It shows how
we need to stop and think about how Christ walked
his walk on earth when his “to do” list was much more important than ours!

Hi Carol,
Thanks for your comments. I loved the Life isn’t fair, do the right thing idea. I have worked it in to my last two sermons. I went back and re-read chapter 10 because of your comment and I got a kick out of the busy day. I can certainly relate on some days. I was telling someone today that I felt like I ran out of day today. I don’t want to be so busy that I miss what is important. I guess it is an issue that needs to looked at regularly. I am praying for you!
